Job Summary
Aircraft Mechanic II for U.S. Navy aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. Responsible for troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, ventilation and heating systems; repairing/replacing/rebuilding aircraft structures and components such as wings, fuselage, rigging, surface controls, and hydraulic/plumbing units using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods. Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other inspections; inspects jet engine components for cracks and wear; tests engine operation with equipment such as ignition analyzers and jet calibrators. Oversees jacking/towing, documents work in maintenance records, and may service engines/components at line stations. May require FAA license and security clearances (CAC, Secret eligibility) and compliance with Navy/Company policies. Required Qualifications

- Must Obtain CDQAR and Aircraft Crew Leader Qualifications within 30 days of promotion / hire date
- Must have completed Navy Aviation “A” School
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must have completed F/A-18 E-G Initial and Career courses
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft experience with 5 years prior F/A-18 A-G Collateral Duty Inspector/Quality Assurance Representative experience or FAA certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings and equivalent experience
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform all assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory
- Must have Phase Coordinator experience
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the 4790.2 series (Program enforcement and compliance)
- Must be able and willing to enforce all Site, Company and Navy policies and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
- Must have working knowledge of the Technical Directive program
- Must be able to plan, prioritize and assign tasks/workload to ensure all customer delivery dates and deadlines are met
- Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Drivers License (if North Carolina Resident)
- Must be able to obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
- Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Preferred Qualifications: Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision
