Job Summary

Aircraft Mechanic I, Electronics for Amentum, supporting U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. Performs repairs to aircraft following orders, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft systems (structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, ventilation and heating), reads and interprets manuals and data, and conducts inspections (preflight, thru-flight, post-flight). Responsibilities include replacing/repairing components, inspecting jet engines for wear or damage, servicing engines and airframe components, and maintaining maintenance records. May supervise jacking/towing and may require security clearances and background checks; may be required to obtain CDI/QA experience, and to comply with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience with three (3) years prior F/A-18 A-G Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative experience
  • Must hold US Navy 8341/E19A NEC
  • Must have completed Navy Aviation Electronics Technician AT “A” School
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
  • Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties
  • Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily tasks
  • There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping
  • Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7 year background check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • Note: US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location
  • Must be able to obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status
