Job Summary
Amentum is immediately hiring Aircraft Mechanic I, Electrician to support U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. The role troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, and ventilation/heating systems; repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and components using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment; reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods; performs progressive and scheduled inspections; inspects jet engines and components for wear, corrosion, and damage; may supervise jacking/towing and maintain maintenance records. Requires five years of F/A-18 maintenance experience (three years CDI/QA), Navy AE “A” School, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain CDI within 30 days. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a U.S. Government background check and obtain facility credentials; shift work and detachments may be required; valid driver license; physical requirements and safety/quality responsibilities are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Five (5) years actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience with 3 years prior F/A-18 A-F CDI (Quality Assurance Representative) experience
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must have completed Navy Aviation Electrician AE “A” School
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory
- Must obtain CDI within 30 days of promotion/hire date
- Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
- Physically able to perform all assigned duties
- Must be able to meet physical requirements and pass medical examinations as required
- US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization and potentially T3 Secret Eligible Status
