Job Summary
Conduct inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems while adhering to the official Flight Research Operations Manual. Inspect work of other mechanics, sign off on inspections and log books, and complete aircraft work sheets. Maintain currency in manuals and service bulletins, attend pre-flight and post-flight briefings, and interpret drawings for fabricating and installing special modifications. Service and maintain assigned aircraft and ground support equipment, including removing and installing controls, electrical units, hydraulic components, and engines. Perform or direct towing, starting, and maintenance activities. Requires FAA Airframe and Power Plant ratings and an Inspector Aircraft license, with 10+ years of field experience. Ability to travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Formal aircraft mechanics trades training
- Possess an Airframe and Power Plant ratings and Inspector Aircraft license from the FAA
- 10+ years experience in field
- Ability to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Layout, fabricate and install special modifications to the aircraft
- Use of precision tools, measuring devices, instruments, etc
