Job Summary
Senior-level oversight of aircraft maintenance operations for Special Air Mission (SAM) aircraft in direct support of the 89th Airlift Wing’s mission. Drives maintenance planning and execution in a contract maintenance environment under AFI 21-101, ensuring safety, airworthiness, and mission readiness while coordinating 24/7 maintenance schedules and after-hours operations. Leads and mentors maintenance personnel, enforces safety, security, and environmental programs, reviews aircraft documentation, and authorizes return-to-service including exceptional/conditional/ETOPS releases. Interfaces with multiple branches and external agencies to sustain high-visibility SAM assets and uphold regulatory compliance (FAA, DOT, OSHA, EPA) across the organization, balancing leadership, discipline, and accountability in support of a national mission.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification is required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
- Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance
- Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance operations, and regulatory compliance
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 15+ years in DoD or civilian aircraft maintenance/operations leadership
