Job Summary
Interior Aircraft Technician – Finisher performs final finishing, installation, repair, and refurbishment of aircraft interior components (cabins panels, bulkheads, doors, overhead bins, galley components, lavatories, cabinetry finish work, and soft goods). Ensures finished interiors meet quality, fit, and safety standards per FAA, OEM, and company procedures. Responsibilities include sanding, varnishing, polishing, detailing, installing interior components, aligning to tight tolerances, applying laminates and veneers, repairing damaged interior parts, restoring finishes, performing minor composite repairs, removing/reinstalling interior assemblies, and supporting quality inspections. Must read and interpret engineering drawings and installation guides, operate tools (sanders, polishers, heat guns, routers, cutting tools, adhesive applicators), and apply adhesives, sealants, and finishes per manufacturer specs. Documentation of work orders and materials, effective communication with leads/supervisors, and coordination with upholstery, cabinetry, and paint teams are required. Works in a fast-paced MRO/refurbishment environment with potential overtime or shift adjustments. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined aircraft spaces; safety with chemicals and adhesives is essential.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in aircraft interiors, cabinetry finishing, automotive interiors, or similar craft
- Strong craftsmanship in finishing, sanding, laminating, and precision installation
- Experience with veneers, laminates, and interior composite materials highly preferred
- Ability to read drawings, follow work instructions, and maintain high-quality standards
- Read and interpret engineering documents, drawings, and installation guides
- Communicate progress, material needs, and issues to Leads and Supervisors
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area
