Job Summary
Air Traffic Controller in a Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Airport Traffic Control Tower in Tuscaloosa, AL, responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic. Works under the general supervision of the tower manager and performs duties independently as procedures allow. Responsibilities include sequencing departures and arrivals to maintain standard separation, issuing clearances, determining runway usage, coordinating with other controllers, monitoring radio communications and navigational aids, and training/mentoring others as needed. Requires 2+ years of experience, a CTO certificate, and a Class II Medical Certificate, with CTO facility-rating experience; works under DOT/FAA drug/alcohol testing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller
- Current or previous Control Tower Operator Certificate (CTO)
- Current Class II Medical Certificate
- CTO with facility rating for a minimum of two years in an Air Traffic Control Tower
- DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements compliance
