Job Summary

Instruct students enrolled in the AFJROTC program to meet Air Force requirements while delivering aerospace science and subject-specific curriculum aligned with state and district guidelines. Provide written lesson plans, manage the learning environment, and assess student progress using differentiated instruction to support achievement. Lead military drill, organize extracurricular activities including honor guard ceremonies and competitive meets, and maintain government equipment and uniforms. Prepare administrative reports on program administration and logistics, communicate student progress to parents, and establish high expectations for learning. Monitor safety, enforce discipline consistent with district policy, and attend professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the military branch.

Required Qualifications

  • AFJROTC instructor certification
  • minimum of 10 years of military service as of the date of the application
  • retired from, separated from, or currently serving in a component of the Department of the Air Force
  • All Air Force/Space Force active or reserve component
  • Hold now or held a final grade of O3 to O6
  • recently commissioned officers who met all criteria to apply while they were enlisted may apply as O1/O2
  • minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • transcripts showing degree completion
  • complete the Air Force JROTC Instructor Certification Course (JICC) or Virtual JICC
  • Be dynamic and understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth patterns of high school students
  • Technology skills necessary to deliver instruction
  • Academic evaluation and data collection methods

  • Deliver instruction in a manner that improves student achievement

  • Communicate the academic progress, attendance, and conduct of students to their parents/guardians
  • Comply with all district/school policies, practices, and procedures
  • Attend training/professional development and implement information and materials provided
  • Demonstrate competency in all subject areas taught
  • Create and maintain a climate of respect
  • Establish and maintain rules and conduct and discipline that are consistent with district policy and procedures and that result in an environment conducive to learning
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding Special Education referrals, staffing, and conferences
  • Practice fairness in teacher-pupil relationships and exhibit an understanding and respect for students as individuals
