Job Summary
Adhere to federal, state, and local policies while assisting in carrying out the instructional program for students with autism. Maintain student records, audit folders, and data collection; prepare, use, and maintain instructional materials and equipment. Provide personal care as identified in applicable student IEPs, including feeding, toileting, and positioning students during therapy programs. Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills, and physically prompt students through instruction. Offer orientation and assistance to substitute teachers and participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities. Manage emotional control under stress while utilizing CPI strategies to manage disruptive students, including restraint, as required.
Required Qualifications
- College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
- College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus
- Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Additional Qualification for Title I Campus: College hours, 48 minimum or score of 464 on the ParaPro test
Desired Qualifications
- Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)
