Job Summary
Reinforce instructional activities, assist in lesson plan preparation, and implement behavior management techniques for assigned special education students. Provide direct physical support including feeding, toileting, and dressing, while managing transportation to learning sites and classroom maintenance. Assist with data collection, lunchroom duties, and recess supervision, plus participate in faculty meetings and complete daily work schedules. This nine-month contract role at Mabelvale Elementary School requires a commitment to quality desegregated education and confidentiality, with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and full physical presence during the contracted period.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Associate Degree
- Passed the ParaPro Praxis Exam (457 or above)
- Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities
- Possesses positive interpersonal relations skills
- Commitment to the importance of confidentiality of records
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education
- Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period
- Must be physically present and at assigned work
- Must have only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year
- Regularly required to sit
- Regularly required to stand

- Regularly required to go up and down stairs
- Regularly required to operate foot and hand controls
- Regularly required to use a telephone
- Regularly required to write
- Occasionally must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds
