Job Summary
Reinforce instructional activities with students, assist in preparing lesson plans and materials, and perform physical needs support including feeding, toileting, and dressing. Provide transportation to learning sites, implement behavior management techniques, assist with data collection, and maintain the classroom environment. Manage lunchroom, recess, and bus duties while participating in in-services, staffing meetings, and completing daily work schedules. Learn curriculum content and assist individual children requiring special attention. Work a nine-and-one-fourth month contract (184 days) as non-exempt staff.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Associate Degree
- Passed the ParaPro Praxis Exam (457 or above)
- Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities
- Possesses positive interpersonal relations skills
- Commitment to the importance of confidentiality of records
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education
- Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period
- Must be physically present and at assigned work
- Only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year
- Regularly required to sit
