Job Summary
Aide - SLE in a special education setting: provide direct instructional and functional support to students with disabilities under the supervision of certified staff. Assist in implementing classroom programs including self-help, behavior management, and small-group instruction. Support teachers with instructional materials, testing, and administrative tasks; supervise students before, during, and after school; assist with transfers, feeding, hygiene, and personal care as needed; help maintain a safe, orderly classroom and participate in staff development. Maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing routines while supporting individual student needs and classroom management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree or 48 hours at an institution of higher learning
- Paraprofessional Aide Certification required (can be obtained once employed)
- Experience working with students; experience may be in church related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar environments
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to provide instruction to individual or small groups
- Flexible attendance and punctuality
- Confidentiality and professional conduct
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
