Job Summary
Assist Special Education teacher in implementing student IEPs under supervision; help prepare instructional materials and maintain an orderly learning environment; support students with physical and personal care needs, monitor progress on IEPs, collect data and prepare reports, and assist in supervising students throughout the day in various settings, including cafeteria, bus, and recreational areas. Requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and staff, ability to lift or reposition students as needed, and adherence to district policies on confidentiality and behavior interventions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or two years of study (60 college hours) or Paraprofessional Institute Certificate
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to adapt to changes in routine and needs of students
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children
- Experience with students with disabilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (FERPA)
