Job Summary
Environmental Services Aide responsible for cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, offices, elevators and stairs, and supporting OR cleaning per OR standards, with a focus on disinfecting, waste removal and adherence to PIDAC standards; requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year housekeeping experience, ability to operate cleaning tools (vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher), ability to lift up to 15 kg, WHMIS knowledge, OHS familiarity and confidentiality compliance; schedule is Temporary Part-Time, 20:00-00:00 Monday to Friday, in a healthcare setting (RVH).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent
- One year of experience in a housekeeping department
- Ability to use tools and equipment common to the work (vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher)
- Able to meet physical demands (standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, lifting up to 15 kg)
- Knowledge of WHMIS and chemicals and dilution rates
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related legislation
- Familiarity with handling different wastes in a health centre
- Compliance with Body Substance Precaution provisions
- Compliance with sanitary and infection control requirements
- Compliance with RVH Privacy Policy
