Job Summary
Support and assist teachers in the academic and life skills development of identified students with disabilities; assist in the preparation and organization of classroom activities; reinforce appropriate behavior per the ARD committee/school plan; guide individual students or groups in daily activities including personal hygiene, attire, eating habits, and behavior; supervise small groups in community settings; contribute to a positive school climate; perform personal care services as required for students with severe physical handicaps; maintain equipment and supplies, adhere to district policies, and participate in safety drills and professional development; demonstrate proficiency with technology and maintain timely, professional communication with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
- Educational Aide II Certification
- 15 college hours or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work well with children; Patience, tolerance, and flexibility; Knowledge of general office equipment
- Experience: Verifiable experience working with children (e.g., daycare, Sunday school, sports, girl/boy scouts)
