Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Assist with administering and scoring objective testing instruments, maintaining orderly classroom environments, and managing inventory of instructional equipment. Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, while making teachers aware of individual student needs. Support substitute teachers with orientation and assist in maintaining administrative records and faculty meeting participation. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures while representing the school system positively to the community.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
