Aide - Health Aide - (7 hours per day)

Job Summary
Provide first aid, triage student needs, and administer medication and tube feedings as instructed by the school nurse. Complete health screenings, including hearing, vision, dental, and growth checks, while scheduling, recording results, and managing referrals per Ohio Department of Health guidelines. Maintain accurate health records, immunization files, and clinic inventories, communicating with parents and staff regarding illness, injuries, or missing documentation. Assist with kindergarten registration and support other buildings when the nurse is unavailable. Adhere to HIPAA, FERPA, and blood-borne pathogen safety protocols while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- LPN License
- Medical knowledge, experience, and training
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain an orderly environment
- Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly
- Strong interpersonal communications skills
- Typing and knowledge of Microsoft and Google Workspace including word processing, spreadsheets, and data collection
- CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) with AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification
- First aid skill
- Ability to work with a variety of student medical needs
- Ability to triage student needs in the school clinic setting
- Ability to administer medication and tube feedings, provide diabetes care and perform other nursing procedures as instructed by school nurse according to school policy
- Ability to maintain good attendance
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) mandated laws
- Inoculation against blood-borne pathogens
- Ability to practice safe procedures including gloves, masks, and other protective clothing
