Job Summary
Aide - Emergent Bilingual (EB) supports K-12 teachers by assisting in preparing instructional materials, organizing classroom activities, and working with individual students or small groups under a certified teacher’s supervision. Responsibilities include reinforcing behavior according to teacher plans, assisting with inventory and records, administering and scoring objectives, preparing reports, coordinating substitute teacher orientation, typing materials, taking attendance, and maintaining classroom displays. The role requires effective communication, patience with students, the ability to collaborate with staff, and a commitment to district core values and safety drills. The position involves classroom supervision during arrival, dismissal, and lunch periods, along with supporting teachers in maintaining a positive, professional learning environment across the school day.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Educational Aide I certification
- 15 college hours or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam
- Some verifiable experience working with children (e.g. daycare, Sunday school, sports, girl/boy scouts)
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with children
- Patience, tolerance, and flexibility
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Assist in classroom activities and supervision
- Demonstrate proficiency with technology applications
- Uphold school rules and district policies
- Maintain punctuality and professional communication
