Job Summary
Lead and mentor a team of AI backend developers by defining technical direction for architecture, model integration, and API design. Build and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI or Flask to serve ML, LLM, NLP, and vision models while driving best practices in MLOps, CI/CD, and cloud deployment. Review code to provide actionable feedback, ensure high-quality deliverables are shipped on schedule, and foster a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. This role requires 5+ years of Python backend experience, leadership skills, and familiarity with FastAPI, Docker, and serving large language models. Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend development experience focused on Python, REST APIs, and system design
- Proven experience leading a software team or mentoring developers
- Practical experience with FastAPI, Docker, Git workflows, and CI/CD
- Experience integrating and serving ML/NLP/LLM models (PyTorch, Hugging Face, vLLM, etc.)
- Good understanding of authentication, authorization, and modern web service patterns
- Solid knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Ownership mentality, builder mindset, and ability to make pragmatic trade-offs
- Excellent communication skills in English — clear, empathetic, and aligned with stakeholders
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with AI-heavy backend systems (RAG, inference optimization, vector databases)
- Familiarity with DevOps tooling and practices (Kubernetes, Terraform, observability)
- Experience scaling small engineering teams and contributing to technical hiring
