AI Systems Engineer

Job Summary
Identify and prioritize manual, repetitive workflows to design, build, and maintain automated systems that reduce effort and improve accuracy. Develop scalable backend architectures using Python, Node.js, or Django to handle high-volume data processing and integrate internal platforms, spreadsheets, and third-party tools into reliable pipelines. Construct AI-enabled workflows for document processing, data extraction, and classification, while implementing security best practices, error handling, and human review points. Partner with internal teams to map processes, validate outputs, and monitor deployed automations, documenting all work for future maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience
- Strong backend development skills, with demonstrated experience building scalable systems that handle high-volume data processing
- Experience with backend frameworks such as Node.js, Python and Django, or FastAPI
- Proficiency in Python or an equivalent language, and comfort working with APIs, data pipelines, and spreadsheet-based systems
- Demonstrated ability to handle system integration and database management effectively, across both relational and non-relational databases
- Working knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices for internal tools
- Demonstrated experience building automations, integrations, or internal tooling, with a portfolio or examples of work that can be shared
- Strong practical fluency with modern AI tools and models, including prompt design, LLM APIs, and AI-enabled document and data extraction
- Ability to interpret a business problem, engage stakeholders directly, and execute independently without extensive technical direction
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment about where automation is appropriate and where human review must remain
- High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working across distributed or international teams is a plus
- Experience in financial services, investment management, or a multi-entity environment is a plus
