AI Software Engineering Intern

Job Summary
Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions by translating product requirements and user stories into functional code using AI-assisted development tools throughout the lifecycle. Generate implementations, create tests, and troubleshoot problems while critically evaluating and validating AI-generated outputs to ensure adherence to architectural and security standards. Participate in Agile activities including planning, stand-ups, and peer reviews, and collaborate with Product Owners and senior engineers to enhance existing applications and APIs. Work independently and collaboratively to follow established engineering practices while exploring emerging AI capabilities for professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Completion of programming coursework or equivalent hands-on development experience
- Experience with an object-oriented programming language through coursework or personal projects
- Foundational understanding of programming and software development concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts
- Interest in APIs, databases, web applications, cloud technologies, and modern application architecture
- Ability to learn and follow established coding, architecture, security, and engineering standards
- Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong desire to learn and adapt as software engineering practices continue to evolve
- Ability and willingness to understand, evaluate, debug, and improve AI-generated code
- Passion for software development, technology, computer science, and AI
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools is preferred but not required
- Personal software projects, coursework, hackathons, or other examples of hands-on development are a plus
