Job Summary
As an AI Research Scientist, you will conduct cutting-edge research in Generative AI and Machine Learning, focusing on developing specialized Foundation Models and AI Agents for observability, site reliability engineering, and code repair. The role involves leveraging large-scale distributed training infrastructure, building simulated environments for agentic training, leading and contributing to research publications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced AI capabilities into Datadog’s product ecosystem. You must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field, extensive experience in deep learning, and a proven research track record with publications at renowned conferences. Familiarity with ML frameworks, open-science contributions, and effective communication of complex models is essential.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Deep expertise in generative modeling, AI agents, reinforcement learning, or natural language processing
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing deep learning models and agents
- Strong background in distributed training frameworks (DeepSpeed, Megatron-LM) and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Proven track record of conducting impactful research with publications at top-tier venues
- Familiarity with efficient training, post-training, fine-tuning, and inference techniques for large foundation models
- Ability to explain complex models and research findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interest in open-science and open-source contributions
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to bridge cutting-edge research and real-world product applications
- Experience writing production data pipelines and applications
- Hands-on experience with GPU programming and optimization, including experience in CUDA
