Job Summary
AI Research Scientist to join Slingshot Aerospace's AI and Innovation team. Lead R&D of AI systems and novel algorithms that augment physics-driven modeling and simulation, explore AI-powered simulation tooling via reinforcement learning and multi-agent systems, and deliver AI-powered solutions across mission-critical modeling and decision-support needs. Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams; contribute to publications and invention disclosures; support patent development; maintain active security clearance; requires a Masters with 2+ years (or PhD) and strong software development and AI/ML expertise. Location is remote within the United States with a compensation range of $120,000-$170,000 plus equity and benefits; classification is Full-time Exempt with US-state restrictions for eligible candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Active US Security Clearance (Secret Minimum, Top Secret Preferred)
- Masters in related field + Minimum of 2 years' experience in similar role (or PhD with relevant research projects)
- AI/ML expertise
- Software development experience
- Expertise in at least one modern high-level programming language (e.g. Python, R, C++, Java)
- Collaborative source code management and maintenance processes (e.g. Github, code reviews, CI/CD)
- Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, evolving operational environment that spans military, government, and industry partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for Space and AI/ML applications
