Job Summary
Lead and grow a team of AI researchers focused on applied AI research at the intersection of advanced research and product application (multiphysics reasoning, spatial reasoning, complex tool use, continual learning, long-horizon agentic execution). Directly collaborate with the CEO to drive the AI research agenda, attract top talent, contribute as an individual contributor, and represent the company in the broader AI ecosystem. Requires significant in-person presence in the San Mateo, CA office and relocation to the Bay Area; roles includes managing model training compute resources and standing up an applied AI research capability within a Defense subsidiary.
Required Qualifications
- Experienced AI researcher with leadership and management of small to medium teams
- Ability to recruit and retain world-class AI research talent
- Willingness to relocate to the Bay Area (San Mateo, CA)
- Eligible for security clearance (prior clearance a plus)
- Comfortable with significant in-person presence in the San Mateo office
- Strong track record in AI research areas such as multimodal models, world models, reinforcement learning
- Ability to work with executive leadership and represent the company at conferences/publications
