Job Summary

Develop and enhance the model risk management framework for AI/ML technologies, including Agentic AI, while aligning with evolving regulatory requirements. Drive implementation of governance standards by collaborating with model owners and developers to foster a risk-aware culture. Assess key model risks such as bias, fairness, and explainability to identify control gaps and recommend mitigation measures. Plan and perform independent validations of AI/ML models, reviewing technical documentation, evaluating implementation processes, and preparing executive-level reports with remediation recommendations. Support effective inventory management of AI systems to ensure accurate model risk reporting. This role supports Commerzbank's robust, risk-based approach to its rapidly expanding AI landscape within the Enterprise Risk Management team.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Econometrics, Engineering, Physics, or another quantitative discipline
  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques, including decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting, neural networks, and related methodologies
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or equivalent tools, as well as hands-on experience with data analysis
  • Familiarity with model risk concepts and an understanding of the unique risks associated with AI/ML models
  • Previous experience in model risk management, model development, or model validation
  • A solid understanding of banking, financial services, or another regulated industry
  • Knowledge of financial products and the role of models in key banking processes (e.g., ICAAP, ILAAP, valuation, credit decision-making, and compliance)
