Job Summary
Architect and develop large language model applications using OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude models served through Microsoft Foundry, extending GenAI.mil and the Department of War's enterprise generative AI platform. Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems, build and customize Microsoft Copilot integrations, orchestrate AI workflows and APIs with Python and FastAPI, and collaborate with mission experts to tune prompts and improve AI system performance for government environments. Lead full-lifecycle AI delivery with governance and security considerations across GCC High and other accredited clouds.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain DoD security clearance (Secret or Above)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years software development experience
- 2+ years focused on AI/ML applications and LLM integration
- Hands-on experience building applications with frontier large language models (OpenAI GPT and Anthropic Claude)
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation and semantic search
- Proficiency with vector and semantic retrieval using Azure AI Search
- Advanced prompt engineering skills with function and tool calling and AI agent development
- Experience with AI orchestration and multi-step agent workflows (Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Foundry tooling)
- Strong Python programming skills and building AI APIs with FastAPI
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel, and custom declarative copilot development
- Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI and Microsoft Foundry model endpoints
- Proficiency with a modern frontend framework (React preferred) for AI UIs
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for AI service deployment in accredited environments
- Knowledge of embedding models, transformer architectures, and fine-tuning techniques
- Understanding of AI safety and responsible AI practices in government contexts
- Experience with version control and CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub) and MLOps practices
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Experience in GenAI.mil context (preferred)
- Experience with GCC High or other accredited government clouds (preferred)
