AI Governance & Legal Counsel | Remote (UK)

Job Summary

Own the AI and data governance workstream across customer implementations, identifying internal approval requirements and coordinating necessary inputs to accelerate sign-off. Support pre-sales and post-sales activities by answering questions on AI governance, privacy, bias, and regulatory readiness, while creating tailored documentation such as governance packs, DPIAs, and risk assessments. Act as the primary in-house legal counsel to review and negotiate customer and supplier agreements, advise on contractual risk, and translate governance requirements into product and process improvements. Work closely with implementation, commercial, product, and engineering teams to reduce approval timelines and build repeatable customer assurance functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Are a qualified lawyer in the UK or another relevant jurisdiction.
  • Enjoy working directly with enterprise customers and senior stakeholders.
  • Can explain legal, regulatory and governance topics clearly and practically.
  • Are comfortable dealing with AI governance committees, legal teams, privacy teams, procurement, business leaders and product/engineering teams.
  • Have experience reviewing and negotiating commercial technology or SaaS agreements.
  • Like writing clear, high-quality documentation.
  • Enjoy helping customers move through complex internal decision-making.
  • Can balance governance rigour with commercial pragmatism.
  • Enjoy creating repeatable processes, templates and playbooks.
  • Are interested in responsible AI, especially in high-stakes hiring and talent workflows.
  • Want to help build an important new function inside a fast-growing AI-native company.
  • Have experience working in a start-up or scaling technology company.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Supporting enterprise customers through AI-governance, legal, compliance or procurement approval.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Legal, compliance, privacy or data protection.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Enterprise SaaS due diligence or customer assurance.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: HR technology, hiring, assessment or occupational psychology.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Regulated software implementation.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Customer-facing consulting or solutions roles.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Drafting policies, DPIAs, risk assessments, governance packs or customer-facing documentation.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Managing specialist external counsel.
