Job Summary
Remote role at CSU/NOAA CIRA, Boulder, CO, supporting the development of next-generation AI-based data assimilation capabilities for HRRRCast. Primary duties include assembling data for AI DA pipelines, developing and evaluating ML algorithms for data assimilation in initializing HRRRCast, maintaining documentation and code in the official repository via GitHub, and reporting progress to project sponsors. Collaborates with CIRA and federal partners; prepares oral briefings, presentations, and publications for scientific conferences. Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in a physical science or math, HPC data-management experience, Python or other scientific software development experience, teamwork in a collaborative environment, AI/ML proficiency, ability to obtain a NACI background check and NOAA CAC, and U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a physical science or math plus 1 year of related job experience OR Master’s Degree in a physical science or math
- Experience using HPC clusters and in managing data
- Experience in writing scientific software in Python or a native language
- Experience working in a collaborative software development environment
- Experience with AI/ML
- Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) federal background check and receive a NOAA Common Access Card (CAC) ID badge
- Must be a citizen of the United States or Lawful Permanent Resident with a physical USCIS “Green Card.”
