AI Automation Intern, Business Operations
$33,280–$37,440 year
On-siteMissoula, Montana, United States
Job Summary
Partner with G&A, People Ops, IT, and Accounting to identify repetitive manual processes and design, build, and pilot AI-powered workflows using Claude and Gemini. Gather requirements from stakeholders, test proposed solutions, and iterate based on feedback while documenting new processes and creating adoption guides. Track project impact metrics such as time saved and errors reduced, then report results to G&A leaders. Move existing AI and operations projects forward from research and prototyping through testing and rollout, taking on ad hoc business operations tasks as priorities shift. Fall 2026 term, on-site in Missoula, MT, with direct mentorship from the IT & Operations Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise using AI tools such as Claude and Gemini to complete work — research, writing, workflow design, data tasks, and more.
- Able to speak concretely about how you've used AI tools to solve a real problem, not just that you've experimented with them.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree; Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students are all encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a resourceful mindset and comfort learning new software quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally with stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage several small projects at once.
- Able to work independently while knowing when to loop in your manager or stakeholders.
- University of Montana students preferred; students at other schools are welcome to apply as long as they can reliably commute to and from work in person at our Missoula office.
Desired Qualifications
- Business-related majors preferred (e.g., Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Accounting) — but strong candidates from other majors with genuine AI expertise are welcome.
- Coursework or project experience in business process improvement, data analytics, or operations.
- Familiarity with AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), APIs, and automation platforms such as Zapier or Power Automate
- Solid Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
- Prior internship or work experience in HR, IT, or Accounting functions.
