Job Summary
Agronomy Specialist at Corteva Agriscience in Wamego, KS, is responsible for validating, operating, and troubleshooting agricultural research equipment (tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, forklifts), maintaining equipment, assisting with weed management and fertilization at research locations, supporting experiment planning, data collection, and leading field crews. The role requires collaboration with local and departmental staff to follow protocols, summarizing results, identifying issues, and recommending actions. Strong attention to detail, independent task management, effective communication, and willingness to work outdoors with potential extended hours are essential. A Bachelor’s or Associate degree in agricultural/biological sciences or 2–4 years of equivalent experience is preferred, along with a valid driver’s license and a pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one. Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an agricultural or biological science, or 2–4 years of equivalent hands-on experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of agricultural equipment safely (tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, forklifts)
- Working knowledge of agronomy, crop production, plant development, and/or weed management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently including initiating, executing, and troubleshooting field tasks without close supervision
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with a diverse team across local and departmental levels
- Proficiency with standard software and willingness to learn internal data systems
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions, including extended hours and occasional weekends or overnight stays during peak season
- Preferred: Experience with agricultural research equipment or small plot experimental design
- Commercial pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain one)
- Prior experience in a leadership or crew supervision role
