Job Summary
Agronomy Specialist to join Corteva's Research and Development team in Wamego, KS. Responsible for validating, operating, and troubleshooting agricultural research equipment (tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, forklifts); assisting with weed management and data collection; planning experiments, coordinating field crews, and ensuring environmental compliance; collaborating with local and departmental staff to follow protocols and summarize results with recommendations; aligns with Corteva Core Values and safety policies. Requires an Associate's or Bachelor's in agricultural/biological science or 2–4 years of hands-on experience, plus a valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors; pesticide applicator license preferred; no visa sponsorship available.
Required Qualifications
- Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an agricultural or biological science, or 2–4 years of equivalent hands-on experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of agricultural equipment safely (tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, forklifts).
- Working knowledge of agronomy, crop production, plant development, and/or weed management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently — including initiating, executing, and troubleshooting field tasks without close supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with a diverse team across local and departmental levels.
- Proficiency with standard software and willingness to learn internal data systems.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions, including extended hours and occasional weekends or overnight stays during peak season.
- Preferred Experience with agricultural research equipment or small plot experimental design.
- Commercial pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain one).
- Prior experience in a leadership or crew supervision role.
