Job Summary
Conduct crop development, insect, weed, and disease scouting, soil sampling, and petiole sampling while maintaining a clean work area and caring for all tools and equipment. Complete an individual agronomy project and field agronomy problem solving before the internship concludes, then present findings to leadership in a 15-minute session. Identify and communicate solutions within your area of responsibility while adhering to safety rules and company policies. Work independently with industry experts from R.D. Offutt Farms, Syngenta, and University faculty to learn about potato nutritional value, sustainability, and vertically integrated farm operations. Maintain a professional image and positive working relationships with peers and management.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled or attending an approved agriculture program or another program approved in writing by R.D. Offutt Farms and Syngenta
- Maintain acceptable GPA and attendance while in the program
- Student must proactively communicate with management while attending school including providing a copy of their transcripts to R.D. Offutt Farms and Syngenta management after each quarter or semester
- Adhere to academic policies, rules and regulations set forth by the higher learning center the student is attending
- Valid driver's license
- Candidate must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
