Job Summary
Direct and evaluate student learning experiences while implementing district educational policies and curriculum for grades seven through twelve. Maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere, manage allotted learning time, and instruct assigned classes using varied instructional techniques and multimedia technology. Develop lesson plans, assess student progress through standardized tests and portfolios, and communicate regularly with parents regarding pupil development. Collaborate with administration, counselors, and staff to plan instructional goals, participate in professional development, and supervise out-of-classroom activities including field trips and student organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Certification by Kentucky Department of Education with proper endorsement
- responsible experience in teaching and supervision
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of modern public school secondary education
- knowledge of the mission, goals, and organization of public education
- knowledge of adolescent growth and development
- sound knowledge of the content area(s) taught
- ability to utilize multimedia and computer technology as appropriate
- ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- ability to develop effective working relationships with the entire school community
- commitment to education reform
- ability to be flexible to adjust the instructional program to any unanticipated interruptions/changes
