Job Summary
Provide peer-based mental health support to farmers through individual mentoring sessions and group workshops, leveraging personal farming experience to foster resilience and community. Facilitate mental health awareness, stress management, and skills-building tailored to the farming community; remove barriers to daily functioning; collaborate with participants and their support networks to achieve personal and professional farming goals; encourage peer-to-peer support and community connections; participate in program committees to adapt services based on participant needs; conduct outreach and build partnerships to expand access to services. Requires personal farming/agricultural experience, willingness to share one’s journey, and enrollment in or completion of the NYS Certification for Mental Health Peer Mentors upon hire; strong interpersonal communication, client-centered and recovery-oriented approach, confidentiality, knowledge of local resources, comfort with documentation, commitment to cultural competence, and willingness to travel regionally. Hybrid/remote position with some regional travel; EOEs.
Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of the New York State Certification for Mental Health Peer Mentors is required upon hire.
