Job Summary
Mix and apply wet, dry, vapor, or soil-incorporated fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides via sprays, dusts, vapors, or chemical application on farm fields. Operate application machinery to cover specified areas while adjusting nozzles and hoses for terrain and material distribution. Estimate quantities, determine regulatory compliance, and set up equipment for designated zones. Maintain, clean, and service machinery daily; inspect units, report malfunctions, and perform minor repairs or assist with major repairs during off-seasons. Manage inventory, maintain driving and application logs for billing, and communicate with customers regarding materials and processes. Requires State Individual Commercial Pesticide Applicator License, CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsement, and 1-2 years of equipment experience. Work outdoors in all weather conditions during long planting and harvesting seasons.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- State Individual Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
- Certified Pesticide Operator's license
- Qualified Supervisor's License preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience with application equipment
- CDL Class A with Hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples endorsements
- Knowledge of farming practices
- Working knowledge of application equipment
- Ability to builds customer relationships by listening to the needs of customers, understanding their point of view, and communicating deliverables
- Ability to organize work and plan a path to the desired outcome and efficiently allocates time to complete work
- Ability to take pride and ownership in the maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Ability to gather and analyze information, consider the consequences, and arrives at a timely decision that meets organizational goals
- Ability to recognize a problem or potential problem
- Must be physically fit
- Must be able to climb, sit for long periods, bend and twist, push and pull, reach and grasp, and strong vision
- Must be able to work long hours during planting and harvesting seasons
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Work with hazardous materials under strict safety guidelines
- Work on rough terrain
