Job Summary
Agile Product Owner for NRAO's Monitor & Control software group. Define product vision, manage the product backlog, and prioritize work based on stakeholder needs and user feedback for M&C software across the Observatory. Translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria, collaborate with scientists, engineers, and operations staff to produce a clearly defined backlog, and guide software development teams through Scrum ceremonies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions. Maintain alignment with NRAO mission, oversee progress, and facilitate continuous improvement in Agile practices while ensuring compliance with NRAO and government safety policies. Location can be Charlottesville, Green Bank, Socorro, or Albuquerque, NM/ WV/ VA; travel as needed within NRAO facilities. Requires Advanced Scrum Product Owner certifications and experience with hardware-software integration in telescope environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in management, computer science, astronomy or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active certification as an Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) and/or Certified Scrum Professional – Product Owner (CSP-PO)
- Experience using Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence
- Ability to translate product vision into actionable backlog and prioritize requirements based on stakeholder needs
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work with software engineers, scientists, and senior managers
- Authorized to work in the United States; this position cannot sponsor international applicants
