Job Summary

Agile Product Owner for NRAO’s Monitor & Control software group, translating product vision into an actionable backlog for telescope software that integrates hardware and software controls. Responsibilities include defining requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria, prioritizing the backlog to deliver value to scientists, engineers, and observatory operations, guiding Scrum ceremonies, collaborating with stakeholders to refine roadmaps, and ensuring timely delivery and compliance with NRAO/government safety policies. Requires strong Agile/Scrum practices, experience prioritizing based on value and dependencies, and excellent communication with software engineers, scientists, and senior managers. Location options include Charlottesville (VA), Socorro (NM), Albuquerque (NM), or Green Bank (WV); U.S. work authorization is required and the position cannot sponsor H-1B visas.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, computer science, astronomy or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Advanced degree preferred; Active certification as an Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) and/or CSP-PO; Experience with Jira and Confluence; Experience in software/hardware integration for mechanical infrastructure; Ability to work with scientists, engineers, and senior managers; U.S. work authorization; No H-1B sponsorship for international applicants
