Aggression Replacement Training Specialist

Job Summary
Instruct children exhibiting bullying, aggression, and challenging behaviors through therapeutic interventions in school and community settings. Deliver group-based skill building activities focusing on social skills, anger control, and moral reasoning to reduce aggressive symptoms and improve behavioral functioning. Provide one-on-one support to enhance the individual's ability to cope with others and maintain community-based services. Maintain comprehensive documentation for accountability and reimbursement while participating in administrative activities. Engage actively in all Aggression Replacement Training components and present to various community and agency groups.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Bachelors Degree in a Human Service field
- 2 years of post Bachelors experience with Mental Health population
- Meets requirements under 10A NCAC 27G.0104 as a Qualified Professional for Mental Health
- Minimum one (1) year documented experience with children, adolescents, and families
- Minimum two (2) years experience within the agency as a Qualified Professional
- demonstration of the ability to meet service and productivity markers for at least one (1) year
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping, reaching, and walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly or frequently to move objects
- Must possess the visual acuity to perform extensive reading
- Must have valid driver's license and be able to work in community settings
Desired Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of the practical application of different therapeutic approaches, group dynamics, crisis intervention, and family therapy
- Considerable knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of the psycho-social, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program
- Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and psycho-pharmacology
- Skill in establishing rapport with a client and/or family and applying techniques of assessing psycho-social, behavioral, and psychological aspects of the client
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and members of civic, medical, social, and religious organizations
- Ability to formulate treatment goals and to record concisely required documentation
- Ability to make public presentations to various community and Agency groups
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute programmatic work effectively
- Considerable knowledge of program development and expansion
- Ability to effectively supervise and manage staff as well as to train and orient professional and support staff, including volunteers and interns
