Job Summary
Aged Care Advocate role in New South Wales providing information, education and advocacy to empower older people to exercise their rights. Responsibilities include listening to and supporting clients via telephone and face-to-face, advocating to ensure rights are upheld, addressing complaints against providers, managing intake and advocacy in Salesforce, referring clients to services, delivering education sessions, developing information resources, participating in events and promotional campaigns, building local networks, and traveling intrastate as required. Hybrid work arrangements offered; salary around AU$99,274 plus super and salary packaging.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent education in social work, psychology or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the aged care system in NSW and familiarity with community resources for additional support
- Strong commitment to human rights, social justice and diversity
- Experience engaging with people who have lived experience of trauma
- Previous experience in applying advocacy that champions client voice and agency
- Be willing to register and authenticate as an advocate agent for professional use of the My Aged Care online portal
- Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering workshops and presentations
- Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Skills in negotiation, teamwork, conflict resolution, decision making and problem solving
- Understanding of ageism and how it effects older people and their rights
- Excellent computer skills, fluent in Microsoft Office 365 and database management
- Willing to use your own registered and comprehensively insured vehicle, where you will be reimbursed for work related mileage claims
- Willingness to obtain an annual flu vaccination and hold a valid National Criminal History check and NSW driver’s license as a condition of employment
