Job Summary
Provide tutoring, literacy support, and academic enrichment to Boys & Girls Club members using hands-on games, activities, and a technology-based reading program. Create a child-centered literacy environment while implementing established literacy programs at the designated location. Facilitate the integration of reading skills and strategies into the Club environment, demonstrating evidence-based reading and Math approaches. Use provided data sources to plan, implement, and evaluate student progress through formal and informal data collection processes. Develop and maintain rapport with students, families, and club staff while maximizing learning time through effective time management. Encourage lifelong learning and cross-curricular use of literacy in STEM, Art, and Music. Attend all required meetings and perform other duties as assigned. This after-school, part-time role involves approximately 10 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a field related to education
- Valid State Teaching certification
- At least 3 years of teaching experience preferred
- Familiar with reading research, Florida state standards, assessments, and evidence-based strategies to identify gaps, support growth, and plan for explicit small group instruction using data provided from the established program
- Knowledge of the practices and principles of non-profit organizations a plus
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems in collaboration with others
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, board members, community groups, and other related agencies
- Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
- Training in Social/Emotional Learning and/or Trauma Informed Care is a plus
