Job Summary
Oversee LEAP Afterschool arts integrated programming by managing staff, streamlining curricula, and establishing organizational structures. Collaborate with school leadership and internal departments to assess needs, evaluate budgets, and ensure quality delivery. Supervise part-time Activity Specialists and Teaching Artists while designing lesson plans aligned with program goals. Handle budget management, track expenses, and maintain accurate records for staff timesheets. Ensure full compliance with DOH and LEAP safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for children. Build relationships with principals, parents, youth, vendors, and other stakeholders. Track attendance, event participation, and survey data to generate reports assessing program effectiveness. Work Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm for 35 hours.
Required Qualifications
- A New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential
- A School-Age Child Care Credential
- An associate's degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students in a school-based or community-based setting
- Familiarity with diverse ethnic and cultural communities
- Sensitivity to parent concerns and child development issues
- Enthusiasm, creativity, initiative and the ability to adapt quickly to change
- The proven ability to serve as a dynamic team leader
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of staff, including recruitment, training, & performance management
- Experience in planning, developing, and implementing educational programs that align with organizational goals and meet the needs of the program
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records
- Strong verbal & written communication, active listening & conflict resolution; relationship building with students, parents, staff, and community partners
