Job Summary

Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and lesson plans for the after-school program, incorporating elements of learning and play that align with Massachusetts Early Education and Care standards. Create a nurturing, structured environment that supports children's emotional and social development while supervising students to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Maintain open lines of communication with parents, providing updates on progress and addressing feedback professionally. Adhere to all EEC regulations and YMCA policies, including health and safety standards, and participate in required training such as Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention within the first 60 days. Work collaboratively with staff, attend regular meetings, and exhibit flexibility with scheduling and substituting in varied areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligibility for Massachusetts EEC Certification
  • Ability to pass background checks
  • Proof of required vaccinations and health screenings
  • Previous experience working with young children
  • Experience in a Preschool classroom
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development
  • Effective teaching practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage with children in a positive, supportive manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Active Massachusetts EEC Certification
