Job Summary
Supervise and engage program participants to foster positive youth development while preparing materials and space for age-appropriate activities. Assist Activity Specialists in planning, developing, and implementing various activities and events, ensuring effective classroom management and a welcoming environment. Maintain safety and security of children during program time, actively following lesson plans and administrative procedures. Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to enhance skills as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and/or youth in a professional setting
- Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders
- Responsible; organized & demonstrate positive communication skills
- Able to set an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism
- Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner
- Prioritizing safety, knowledge of procedures, active supervision, & emergency preparedness
- Building positive relationships, understanding child development & cultivating a nurturing & inclusive environment that foster a sense of belonging
- Assisting with the design & execution of activities, facilitating learning, creativity & adaptability, & encouraging youth participation
- Set clear expectations, implement positive behavior management; conflict resolution, & maintaining order
- Effective communication, active listening, teamwork, & building relationships with various stakeholders, departments, youth, and staff
- Role modeling, accountability, openness to feedback, & Commitment to growth
- Pre-employment screening is required for this position, including but not limited to criminal history checks by regulating agencies as needed per placement
