Job Summary
The After School Counselor, under the supervision of the Youth Development Director, provides direction for the program and classroom while implementing program curriculum. Key responsibilities include designing daily lesson plans, supervising children's activities, assisting with homework, maintaining positive relationships, and ensuring the safety of the program. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old, possess necessary certifications within 30 days of hire, and have the ability to engage fully with children and organize developmentally appropriate activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and assigned Redwoods trainings within 30 days of hire date.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
