Job Summary
Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activities for children in YMCA care. Actively participate with all children to meet their emotional, physical, and intellectual needs, model positive interactions, and encourage involvement in activities. Implement positive guidance techniques, help children identify and verbalize feelings, and maintain a clean, safe facility. Collaborate with staff to plan lessons/activities within the curriculum framework, and communicate regularly with parents through planned activities and updates. Demonstrate YMCA competencies in Values, Inclusion, Relationships, Communication, Decision-Making, and Emotional Maturity. Maintain ongoing engagement with diverse populations and plan/lead age-appropriate activities while fostering meaningful relationships with children and families.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Some previous experience working with children
- Swim skills preferred
