Job Summary
The Afterschool Counselor I is responsible for leading assigned groups in various planned activities aimed at supporting the overall goals of the program for elementary age children. The role includes planning and implementing educational activities, maintaining attendance records, coordinating supply orders, consulting with the Site Director on student development, and assisting with compliance regarding safety protocols and program regulations. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children in a group setting. Ideal candidates should have relevant prior experience and necessary certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess a minimum credential that meets BFTS requirement and HS Diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working with school-age children in a group setting
- Current evidence of successful completion of biennial training in CPR/First Aid
- Experience in a licensed setting and supervision of staff in a school-age setting is a plus
- Must receive a cleared GCIC/NCIC and a cleared Fingerprint check
- Annual GCIC checks will be conducted before each school year
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience with internet technology platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom
