Job Summary
Conduct homework support and facilitate intramural recreational activities for students at The Canopy School. Assess individual interests and leisure needs through observation and interviews to establish appropriate recreation goals. Coordinate afternoon programs by providing recreation groups, documenting bi-weekly participation summaries, and completing activity assessments for new admissions within five days. Lead direct care staff in planning and facilitating therapeutic recreational activities while monitoring implementation for safety and youth care. Attend weekly planning meetings with the Recreation Coordinator and assist in maintaining inventory for recreational equipment. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, respond quickly to emergencies, and work afternoons and early evenings.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be able to communicate professional manner
- Must be able to work afternoons and early evenings
- Must have the physical ability to assist in the physical or therapeutic hold of youth when required
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies
- Must be able to physically assist or support youth and/or staff
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
