Job Summary
Conduct specialized arts, STEM, sports, and craft activities for youth in LEAP after-school programs, fusing creative instruction with academic goals. Prepare age-appropriate lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and ensure safety compliance while collaborating with program staff and school administrators. Lead structured sessions in drama, photography, cooking, or yoga, fostering leadership skills and inclusive environments for students with diverse needs. Attend required staff meetings and professional development to enhance instructional knowledge. Requires two years of youth experience, a degree in Arts or Education, and NYS SACC clearances. Part-time, on-site role in the Bronx Charter School for Better Learning.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience working with youth in a classroom or group setting
- Experience successfully instructing youth in the arts
- College degree in the Arts or Education, or equivalent experience
- Familiarity working with Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners
- Passion for inclusion and advocacy in the arts
- Enjoy working with youth in a team environment
- Effective writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must be punctual, responsible, resilient, and reliable
- Self-motivated, highly efficient, and able to problem-solve
- Able to pass all NYS SACC clearances and background checks inclusive of a work physical and TB
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
