Job Summary
Lead structured activities in LEAP after-school programs, including art, dance, STEM, cooking, and chess, while engaging participants to develop artistic, educational, and leadership skills. Collaborate with program staff and school administrators to create age-appropriate lesson plans, ensure safety compliance, and manage diverse student needs. Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance instructional knowledge. This role requires 17.5 hours weekly from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, with an hourly range of $22-30. Candidates must hold a college degree in Arts or Education, possess two years of youth experience, and pass NYS SACC clearances. LEAP seeks passionate educators committed to experiential learning and inclusive culture across all five boroughs.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience working with youth in a classroom or group setting
- Experience successfully instructing youth in the arts
- College degree in the Arts or Education, or equivalent experience
- Familiarity working with Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners
- Passion for inclusion and advocacy in the arts
- Enjoy working with youth in a team environment
- Effective writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must be punctual, responsible, resilient, and reliable
- Self-motivated, highly efficient, and able to problem-solve
- Able to pass all NYS SACC clearances and background checks inclusive of a work physical and TB
