Job Summary
Provide active, consistent supervision of students during after-school hours to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Create a structured, welcoming environment that promotes positive behavior, social development, and independence while facilitating age-appropriate recreational, enrichment, and educational activities. Support students in following school expectations, behavioral guidelines, and routines using de-escalation strategies and behavior-support plans. Maintain awareness of student locations, respond promptly to safety concerns, and report incidents to the School Director. Perform end-of-day dismissal procedures, verify student departures, and ensure all supplies and equipment are stored safely. Maintain clean, orderly classrooms and assist with program setup and cleanup. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to promote continuity of student support and maintain positive relationships with families and the school community.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
- Prior experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults in an educational, childcare, recreation, after-school, behavioral health, special education, or related setting
- Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and adapts easily to changing priorities or unforeseen circumstances
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff members, students, parents, and the public
- Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals
- Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
- Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in a related field of study
